About Vyn

We build open-source, AI-powered APM tools for platform engineering, SRE, and operations teams. Eight products, free and self-hosted. Enterprise support and IT transformation services for teams that want expert partnership.

Why Vyn exists

Vyn was built to make enterprise-grade AI operations accessible to every team. Existing tools for Kubernetes, CI/CD, cloud cost management, database operations, and AI platforms are often expensive, complex, and locked behind per-seat pricing that punishes adoption.

When AI tooling matured in late 2024, the opportunity became clear: deliver production-grade, AI-powered APM tools as open-source software that teams can self-host and run at zero cost. Our business is built on enterprise support and IT transformation partnerships — not on extracting rent from the tools themselves.

Today, Vyn includes eight MIT-licensed products — VynOps, VynDC, VynCICD, VynCost, VynAI, VynDB, VynHana, and VynSAP — each covering a distinct operational domain, with more on the way. We also work directly with companies to modernize IT systems, lead AI transformations, and build new engineering platforms from the ground up.

Core principles
01Software is free — always MIT licensed, no dual licensing
02No lock-in — export everything, self-host, fork freely
03AI with guardrails — nothing executes without confirmation
04Community-first roadmap — real usage patterns guide priorities
05On-premises architecture — your infrastructure stays yours, data never leaves your environment
06Zero data retention — nothing is stored on the platform, your operational data stays private by design

“Every engineering team deserves the same operational intelligence that the largest companies build internally — not as a $50k/year SaaS subscription, but as software they own. And when they need expert help to go further, we are ready to partner with them.”

Values

How we build

Open source first

All eight Vyn products are MIT licensed and fully self-hostable. Infrastructure tooling must be transparent, auditable, and accessible to every team regardless of budget. We will never dual-license or restrict core features behind a paywall.

Engineer empathy

We've been on-call at 3am with broken runbooks and noisy pagers. Every feature is designed to reduce cognitive load — not add to it. If something makes the on-call experience worse, it doesn't ship.

No lock-in, ever

Your cluster data, incident history, and configuration belong to you. Export anything, migrate anytime, fork freely. We earn your continued use with delivered value — not by making it painful to leave.

AI with guardrails

AI suggestions across our products are always explicit, audited, and reviewed before execution. We show confidence scores, blast radius estimates, and full reasoning chains. One-click remediation is never one-click without your confirmation.

Community over company

The roadmap across all products is shaped by the community — issues, discussions, and real usage patterns. Commercial needs never override what makes our tools better for the engineers using them daily.

IT transformation partnership

Beyond the tools, we partner with companies to modernize legacy IT, migrate to cloud-native, adopt AI at scale, cut infrastructure costs, and build new engineering platforms. Approach us with your hardest problems — we want to help.

Radical documentation

A tool is only as good as its documentation. Every feature has a corresponding guide, every API endpoint has examples, and every known issue has a workaround documented before a fix ships.

First commit

All eight Vyn products are and will always be MIT licensed. Every capability — cluster monitoring, AI Copilot, incident management, CI/CD orchestration, cost optimization, database operations, autonomous remediation — will never be closed-sourced, dual-licensed, or moved behind a paywall. This is a permanent commitment.
